St. Charles Historical Society Obituary Collection
Obituaries– (Alphabetical by Last Name), A3-4, with index
As you look at the Obituary Index above, you will notice a surname with a corresponding letter of the alphabet and number. The alphabet letter and number is where the obituary images (below) can be found. For example, Amos R. Haake is found on page H1. However, sometimes information can be found in another part of the alphabet. For example, Edward Alderson’s name can be found on page S482 as he is mentioned in his married daughter’s obituary. In addition, you might see AD with a number. This AD represents the Obituaries Addendum or Obituary Addenda list. The binder in which this information is found is called: Obituaries Addendum (with index) while the first page of the thirteen pages is called Obituary_Addenda.pdf (scchs.org). An example, Emmett Bernard Haake is found on page H1 and there is also information about him on page AD21. If you need information about someone you are searching who is identified as being on this list, please contact the society for more information at: info@scchs.org.
